Today was another fun day of group adventures! In the late afternoon we loaded up the bus and headed to Denver, with a stop in Idaho Springs for lunch at Beau Jo’s Pizza. This isn’t just any pizza place. It’s a pizza place that sells pizza by the pound. They serve mountain style pizza, which has a thick crust around outer edge that is typically eaten solo with honey (after devouring the pizza part). Delicious.
We then hopped back on the bus to continue our way into Denver to go to the Colorado Rockies vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks game. In case you don’t follow baseball closely, the Colorado Rockies are the worst team in the league currently. They’ve lost 60 games. BUT NOT TODAY. THEY WON. It was totally our presence that helped bring them that win. It was a fiercely hot day (“it’s a dry heat”) but we were relaxing in the shade 😎
After the game we headed back to the YMCA for dinner and some more free time adventuring around their grounds. We ended the night with a student organized and led TALENT SHOW with acts like Baby by Justin Bieber, conversational German, a pageant, and a dance off. You’ll have to ask about it when we get home, it was incredible.
Tomorrow we are heading to Buena Vista to raft down the Arkansas River. Prayers for safety, strength, and warmth in the frigid water!
